Default Blog... "Awaken the Giant Within – And Be All That You Can Be"

“Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers; powers that would astonish him, that he never dreamed of possessing; forces that would revolutionize his life if aroused and put into action.” – Orison Sweet Marden

There is a Giant that lay dormant in every one of us. Frustrations put him to sleep. We tried a few thing; failed, and a powerful lesson was learned. We understood almost immediately that we were not meant for great achievements; we simply did not have what it takes to fly with the eagles so why take the risk of being hurt again by another failure? We gave up and the Giant within us quietly fell in a deep sleep.

That Giant is sleeping but he’s not dead. The only thing that is needed to get him back on his feet and roaring is some passion. Passion is the lifeblood of that Giant. Passion for knowledge, passion for self-expression, passion to build and achieve and, ultimately, passion for life.

That passion is the offspring of love and gratitude. Love for self and gratitude for all the gifts that we were freely given at birth. We were given the miracle of life; that’s the greatest gift of all. With it, everything is possible; its only limitations are the scope of our imagination and the size of our commitments.

The love of self is built on the recognition and appreciation of the grandeur of what it means to be a man. It is said that the complexity of a single person equals the magnitude of the Universe. A fact that we unfortunately tend to dismiss or choose to ignore.

We choose to dismiss the awesome reality of our true nature because it is somewhat scary. With the almost god-like potential that we were given came the terrifying responsibility of taking charge of all that power. A situation that is often resolved by going into denial to the point of not even trying to explore its possibility.

It does take courage to go against the grain of popular beliefs. It does take courage to accept the fact that we posses amazing resources and that we have the potential for greatness. It may take courage but when considering that the only other option is a life of conformity, anonymity and futility if not despair, the decision as to what path will be followed becomes simpler to take.

We are often tempted to believe that those who perform at a higher level were somehow blessed with something special; something that is essential to reach the higher echelons of success but something that we don’t have.

It is true that some specific talents or attributes were not evenly distributed. Each of us was blessed in a special way. We are all unique and for that reason, the path of self-actualization is different for everyone. The Giant is present in all of us but his powers and potential differ in every case.

Part of our job as master of that Giant is to find out what his strong points are. Hone and develop those special talents, infuse them with the power of passion and set them free to express their full power in the pursuit of our unique manifest destiny.

The very fact that we exist is the result of the miracle of life. The Creator of that life placed a sleeping Giant inside every one of His creatures. That Giant is just awaiting the input of our passion to be stirred into action and transform an ordinary life into an epic adventure of colossal proportions.

As we stand at the gate of our future, a decision must be taken. Will be wake that sleeping Giant and soar into a glorious adventure or wait until it is too late to do so? It’s a decision that we alone can take. The quality of our life depends on it. It’s the ultimate, “To be, or not to be.”

Damn, What a ride!!
